The late Bruno “Muxie” Paolina, and his late wife Virginia, started Muxie Distributing in 1952 in a four-car garage in downtown Bellaire, Ohio. They started the company with three main brands Wiedemann, Schmidts and Rolling Rock. In 1955, Muxie was granted the distribution rights for the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company and soon after moved the business to its current location in the North Bellaire Commerce Park on Guernsey Street. In the late 60’s Sandy, Muxie and Virginia’s only daughter, took over the reins of the company. She continued to teach the hard working family owned business work ethic unto her children: Rick, Kelly and Jeff.
In the mid-80’s the grandchildren of Bruno purchased the company from Sandy and continued the family tradition. The company continued to fuel growth through hard work and two noteworthy acquisitions: (1) the acquisition of the rights to distribute Coors Brewing from Fort Steuben Distributing in 1992 and (2) the acquisition of the Miller brands from Valley Distributing in 2001. Together these two acquisitions made Muxie a unique distributor: with only a handful of distributors across the country distributing Anheuser-Busch, Miller and Coors. Muxie has been successful in the marketplace with the three competitive breweries. Most recently Muxie was awarded the rights to the D.G Yuengling brands and New Belgium Brewing.
